Guitar Fretboard

For those guitar beginners, memorizing each single note on guitar neck is so difficult. Imagine how many frets on the guitar, how can we possibly remember what note we are playing?

Of course I’m not gonna tell you to just memorize it. Today we’re giving you some tips so that beginners like ours can understand and be able to tell the notes easier and faster.

First thing first, what all guitar players need to know is the standard tuning guitar note. Without using your left hand to press the strings on any fret, the notes that you’ll get are E A D G B E, this is starting from the top (6th string) to the bottom (1st string)

Secondly, you should know the note and its represent alphabet. The sound Doh Re Mi Fa So La Ti can be represented by the alphabet A to G. However you have to start with the letter C, and so on.

When the key is higher by half step, we’ll use a “sharp” symbol (#) while a half step lower key is “Flat” symbol (b). See the picture, the C# is the exact same note as Db. Yes!, it is simple as that. However what you need to memorize is that you can have a sharp with every notes ECCEPT E and B, similarly you’re NEVER EVER gonna see Fb and Cb.

See the guitar neck so that you’ll understand better. When you combine the standard tuning and the theory about the notes, these are the notes on each fret that you’ll have on the 1st string : F, F#, G, G#, A, Bb, B, C, C#, D, D#, E. For the rest of the strings, of course you can do the same, simply you start from a different note. That’s all. And this is why every guitar player should know the guitar’s standard tuning.

After you know the basic, now you can select to memorize the ones that you use them often. For example, G chord, you’ll see that the 6th string 3rd fret is the note G. Now you’d automatically know moving one fret to the left, you’d get F#, moving to the right, you’d get G#.

Lastly, using Fret marker which normally you’ll see them on the 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th, and 12th fret, it’ll make you pick up the notes even easier and faster.
